The Challenge

As Miller emerged from the pandemic with renewed ambitions for growth, they identified Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (ED&I) as a key area for development. Like many in the construction industry, Miller had yet to fully focus on this important area. To accelerate their progress, they partnered with Q5, aiming to embed ED&I into the core of their business and foster a more inclusive future.

Our Approach

We delivered a series of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (ED&I) awareness sessions for senior leaders at Miller Homes, focusing on the evolving role of diversity in today’s workplace. These sessions covered:

  • A deep dive into the meaning of ED&I, including key considerations and potential challenges.
  • An exploration of diversity within Miller’s senior management.
  • A review of competitor approaches to ED&I and industry best practices.
  • Identification of Miller’s overarching aspirations for ED&I.

Following this, action-planning workshops were held with managers across regional teams and corporate functions to build a clear ED&I roadmap. Finally, senior leaders convened for a summary session to review and finalise a consolidated action plan.

Key Outcomes

  • The Executive identified their aspiration for ED&I at Miller.
  • The senior leaders built their knowledge around ED&I and identified their own personal commitments to progressing ED&I at Miller.
  • A consolidated action plan derived from the workable and practical ideas from workshops attended by senior leaders and managers across the organisation.
