The Challenge

In an uncertain regulatory environment, a Global Insurance company needed to align the UK Branch operations to a post-Brexit environment, enhancing the capability of the UK Service Company to better serve their Global Business Lines in compliance with Group Head Office policy, procedures, and frameworks.

Q5 was tasked to design 3 different future Service Company models in a manner that optimised the overall UK Branch operating model whilst aligning to a yet to be defined future Group Strategy.

Our Approach

  • Executed a detailed analysis and up-to-date assessment of individual functions to identify capability gaps and opportunities to optimise processes through automation, outsourcing and relocation
  • Designed 3 different organisations with operating models detailing the minimum viable organisation to support and enable growth in the UK
  • Redefined the service catalogue to map activities, outline responsibilities, and clarify ownership across functions
  • Reallocated efficiency gains to develop key levers for success, including a strategic Procurement function and multi-disciplinary projects team

Key Outcomes

  • Improve governance and control procedures in line with regulatory and legislative expectations
  • Align processes across functions to eliminate duplication, limit low-value-add activities and improve demand management & work prioritisation
  • Clarified purpose, accountabilities, and activities of functions with clear ownership and KPIs
  • Identified core strategic changes and levers for success for the future Service Company
  • Identified key areas for improvement to efficiently and effectively support all branches of the organisation
  • Outlined capabilities needed for long-term success with a gap analysis detailing critical requirement and where the organisation is today
