The Challenge

Following the acquisition of a large consumer audio business, this global leader in hearing solutions was exploring options to support the integration and transition of the new business from a people and culture perspective. As with any acquisition process, there was a need to find synergies in the cultures, leadership and ways of working of the two organisations. While there were 5 overarching values, there was a need to define what it meant to be part of this new business and how to balance the history of the previous company with the scale and maturity of the new one.

Our Approach

Sponsored by the MD, we used our proven Culture Change approach in 3 stages:

  • The Understand Phase was a thorough analysis of the current state culture, challenges and blockers that existed across the two businesses, including using our Culture Survey to draw our similarities and differences between the two organisations.
  • The Align Phase brought together leaders and voices from across the business to define what the future desired culture was, alongside a roadmap of interventions to get there.
  • During the Ignite Phase we worked to activate the new culture through rolling out targeted interventions focusing on leadership team effectiveness, building a greater sense of identity for the new organization and developing a repeatable culture change solution.

Key Outcomes

  • Aligned the leadership team on the current and future culture and agreed on focus areas for action to close the current culture gap and achieve the aspired culture.
  • Achieved noticeable improvements in the leadership team dynamics.
  • Activated a network of change catalysts.
  • Delivered an engaging culture change solution aimed at fostering a positive sense of belonging while offering a repeatable culture change approach to tackle culture challenges from within.​
