Agile Coaching

The Challenge

BP, a global oil and gas supermajor, had launched a strategy to be a sustainable energy company by 2050. Having completed a redesign of the organisation structure to support this strategy, the client was dedicated to overhauling ways of working to become more customer and output focused. Essentially bringing to life the concept of self-sustaining teams throughout the business using Agile as the core methodology. Q5 supported the client through a combination of support in the Agile Centre of Excellence (CoE) and provided a large number of Agile coaches across the globe to drive the adoption of new ways of working.

Our Approach

  • Worked with the Agile Centre of Excellence (CoE) to create and roll out guidelines for the Agile coaching community – setting the standards for how to deploy Agile across the organisation
  • The deployment of Agile Enterprise coaches to ensure there was coherence in the adoption of new ways of working across the organisation
  • The deployment of Agile Team coaches to actively support the adoption of new ways of working across the business in day-to-day delivery
  • Provided feedback and guidance to the overall programme team on ways to continually improve and adapt to new ways of working (on a collaborative basis with other select global suppliers)

Key Outcomes

  • Increased internal agile coaching capability through knowledge and skills transfer
  • On-going improvements to delivery through coaching at a team level
  • Roll out and implementation of agile ways of working guided by the Enterprise Agile coaches
  • More efficient and effective ways of working implemented and measured
  • Pragmatic governance implemented
