The Challenge

Preparing for a period of significant growth, with plans to triple its headcount over the next three years, Q5 were engaged to develop a Strategic Workforce plan that identified future roles and capabilities while aligning workforce planning with the company’s long-term business strategy. The company’s prior focus on short-term manpower planning was insufficient to manage this rapid growth, creating a need for a more strategic approach to workforce management.

Our Approach

  • Established a firm people data foundation by mapping, reorganising and cleansing workforce data for ~4,000 employees.
  • Conducted an end-to-end activity analysis across the organisation that captured where effort was expended, areas of duplication, areas of waste and identified.
  • Defined strategic objectives and potential scenarios to evaluate and explore, running workshops with senior leaders and SMEs to form the basis for future-state modelling of size, shape and make-up of the business.

Key Outcomes

  • A validated and cleansed single source of data, consolidating multiple data sources for c.4000 employees
  • A bespoke Strategic Workforce planning tool equipped with a workforce plan, live dashboarding and a capability framework that projected future talent and capacity needs to meet the growth ambitions of the organisation
