IPS is a small membership charity for healthcare professionals who work in the area of infection prevention and control. They have a Board of Trustees and Management Executive Group but all the work of the society is carried out by volunteers and they lack expertise in strategic planning. They had developed a strategic plan previously but it needed updating and they were struggling to replace it with something that was focused and achievable.
We ran two workshops for IPS to help them define their ambition and vision, identify their strategic priorities, target outcomes and measures of success. We held a pre-meeting with key board and executive members ahead of the workshops, to inform our approach, ensuring it was very tailored to their objectives. We structured the workshops to ensure that, by the end of the process, we had captured opinion and formed it into a workable strategic plan.
