The Challenge

The organisation was an Investment Management firm with c. 400 employees that focus on ‘building better businesses’ in Northern Europe.

The client asked Q5 to support in creating a new Talent Strategy, refreshed approach to Talent Management and competency frameworks and maps to enhance career development opportunities. The client’s Talent Management approach failed to provide employees with clear expectations, career development guidelines or tools to have meaningful development conversations with their Line Managers.

Our Approach

  • Conducted an initial as-is assessment through desk based analyses and workshops with the HR Talent Team to understand what was working well and what was not working well in terms of Talent Management.
  • Validated and built upon initial findings with SteerCo members
  • Designed a future focused Talent Strategy and Talent management approach
  • Designed the Talent Operating Model, supporting structure, RACI and implementation roadmap
  • Conducted 30+ interviews with exemplar talent to design a capability model, supporting skills library and career maps for their Investment Professionals
  • Designed a Talent Playbook – housing line manager and employee guidance on how to navigate career development

  • Greater understanding of the current talent landscape and a view on what is working well vs not
  • A new Talent Vision and Principles to provide greater clarity and direction
  • Strategic recommendations for a holistic talent management approach that provided focus and direction
