Young People

Through workshops, 1:1 mentoring and group support, we provide opportunities for 200 young people to contribute their voice and gain useful skills as the future workforce.

Investing in tomorrow's leaders

At Q5, we are passionate about helping young people thrive as they prepare for the workforce of the future. Through the Q5 Foundation we set up the Youth Panel, Futures Taskforce, and University Consulting providing opportunities to build skills, share their voices, and gain real-world experience. These programs empower the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and innovators.

What is the Youth Panel?

Every summer, we run an application process open to all 15 to 18-year-olds in the UK. We select a panel of up to 14 young people who convene four times a year at our London office or virtually.

From the panel, we generate rich qualitative insights about what young people want from their future workplace, which add to the thinking and advice we provide to clients. In 2023/2024, we covered topics such as the world of work, multi-generational workforce, Diversity & Inclusion, and sustainability.

Panellists gain valuable experience and knowledge about how consulting works and join the ever-growing network of Youth Panel alumni, connected to Q5 and each other.

What is the Futures Taskforce?

Q5 Futures Taskforce is an annual programme bringing together students from different universities and disciplines from across the UK to explore future megatrends. The Taskforce participates in interactive workshops in our London office, where they share multidisciplinary thinking and insights into the latest academic research.

In 2023 we explored themes such as the future of happiness at work, inclusion, learning, belonging, and the impact of AI and automation on the workplace.

The Futures Taskforce is an important component of Q5’s research and development. Its output contributes to how we manage and respond to change in our areas of expertise.

What is University Consulting?

Q5 partner with a global network of university students who provide pro bono consulting services to charities and non-profits. We help the teams at Bath and Nottingham universities, mentoring and supporting volunteer student consultants and advising on their pro bono projects and delivery.

180 Degrees Consulting is the world’s largest consultancy for non-profits and social enterprises. 180DC provides high-quality consulting services to social impact organisations, to help improve and expand their services. These consultancy projects are delivered by university students, with the support and guidance of management consultants from various organisations.

Q5 has supported 180 Degrees Consulting since 2018, working with the University of Bath and University of Nottingham. We offer coaching, training sessions, placements, pop-up experience, interview preparation and project support.

We have supported more than 200 students and run numerous training events, providing funding and placement to the students. We are now looking to extend our support to universities with a high proportion of students from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds.

Testimonials

What our students say about us

“The leadership training session delivered by Q5 was an excellent addition to our 180 degrees consulting training programme. It really gave our team leaders the opportunity to engage with the team and with professionals to continue developing their own skills, while allowing myself and our president to continue developing our own abilities to match and really ensure that our team leaders and and our assistant team leaders work well together, which is essential to any project.”

Omer Samuel, Management student at University of Nottingham
